Kraken Card launched on July 13, 2026 as a debit card for spending balances already held in a Kraken account. The Kraken Card is available to eligible customers in the UK and European Economic Area, runs on Mastercard, and can draw from both crypto and cash balances.

The main distinction is balance flexibility. Kraken says users can spend from more than 600 supported crypto and cash currencies, choose which balances fund purchases, and let the account convert assets near the time of payment. That is useful for existing Kraken customers. It also means the card remains tied to a custodial exchange account and its conversion mechanics.

What Kraken Card Offers

Kraken lists both virtual and physical card formats. The virtual card can be issued in the app and added to Apple Pay or Google Pay, while the physical card requires activation after delivery. Card controls and transaction history sit inside the Krak app and use the same Kraken login.

The card fits users who already hold assets on Kraken and want fewer transfers between an exchange balance and a separate spending account. It is less compelling for users who want self-custody or do not want everyday purchases connected to an exchange account.

Cashback, Fees And Conversion

Kraken advertises up to 2% cashback on purchases, paid weekly in Bitcoin, euros or pounds. The exact rate and eligibility should be checked in the live card flow rather than treated as a guaranteed flat return.

The launch page says Kraken charges no transaction or ATM fee. That wording needs two qualifications. A variable spread can apply when the card spends across assets, and an ATM operator can add its own fee. Users should compare the conversion result, not only the visible card fee.

Public spending and withdrawal limits are not complete enough for Defimap to publish fixed numbers. Check the app for account-specific limits, supported funding balances, excluded merchant categories and the current cashback rate before ordering.

Kraken Card vs Other Exchange Cards

The closest comparison is the Kraken Card vs Coinbase Card. Geography is the first filter: Defimap currently tracks Kraken for eligible UK and EEA users, while Coinbase Card is primarily tracked for the United States.

Kraken also belongs with Mastercard crypto cards, cashback crypto cards, European crypto cards and the broader CEX card category.

Pros

  • Good:crypto and cash balances can fund one card.
  • Good:virtual and physical formats cover mobile and conventional card use.
  • Good:cashback can be paid in BTC, EUR or GBP.

Cons

  • Watch:the card is limited to eligible UK and EEA customers at launch.
  • Watch:spending across assets can include a variable conversion spread.
  • Watch:the card depends on a custodial Kraken account and live account limits.

Bottom Line

Kraken Card is relevant because it turns an established exchange balance into a current UK and EEA Mastercard product rather than a waitlist concept. Existing Kraken customers get the clearest fit. Before applying, verify cashback eligibility, conversion spreads, account limits, ATM operator fees and whether virtual or physical issuance is available in your country.

Pros

  • Good: Crypto and cash balances can fund the same card
  • Good: Virtual and physical Mastercard formats are available
  • Good: Up to 2% cashback can be paid in BTC, EUR or GBP

Cons

  • Watch: Current availability is limited to eligible UK and EEA customers
  • Watch: A variable spread can apply when spending across assets
  • Watch: Public card limits and some account-specific terms need in-app confirmation

Bottom line

Kraken Card belongs on the shortlist only if its fees, regions, funding flow and KYC rules match how you plan to spend. Check the provider page before moving funds.
